The best bars in Innsbruck aren’t on the main tourist drag. If you want craft beer, a proper beer garden or just a cold Radler after a hike, here are five spots locals actually go to, Bierfabrik, Tribaun, Moustache, BierWelt and our own Montagu Bed & Beers bar.
As winter slowly lets go and the first proper warm evenings return, Innsbruck starts to feel different. People linger outside a bit longer, jackets stay open, and plans become less structured. Spring is the season where you don’t need much, a good spot, the right people, and a cold beer is usually enough.
Montagu Bed & Beers
We’ll start at home.
Montagu Bed & Beers sits right at the heart of the house, where the line between checking in and staying for a drink is pretty thin. Beer-wise, you’ll mostly find local Innsbruck classics and Bavarian beers, easy, familiar, and exactly what you feel like after a day outside.
The crowd is a mix of travellers and locals, which keeps things social without being overwhelming. Some nights stay slow and conversational, others pick up with live concerts, DJ sets, or small events that naturally turn into longer evenings.
The bar opens at 6pm and usually runs late, with a happy hour for hostel guests from 6–7pm. When spring hits, the terrace becomes one of those spots where people come for one drink and end up staying longer than planned.

Bierfabrik
Bierfabrik sits on the more alternative side of things. They brew everything on site in small batches, which means the selection rotates depending on what’s currently being brewed. You’ll usually find a handful of options, with small variations over time.
The beers feel very local and hands-on, without trying too hard to be polished, which is part of what makes the place interesting. The crowd is mostly locals, creatives, and people who are genuinely interested in how beer is made.
There’s also a small outdoor seating area, perfect for warmer evenings, and a selection of simple but really good snacks that pair well with the beers.

Tribaun
If you’re into craft beer in Innsbruck, Tribaun is probably already on your list. They focus heavily on craft, with rotating taps and a wide range of styles, from hoppy IPAs and smooth pale ales to darker stouts and the occasional sour or seasonal brew.
The vibe is a bit more “beer-focused”, people here tend to actually care about what they’re drinking. Expect a mix of locals, craft beer fans, and curious visitors. Mostly an indoor spot, but perfect for a slower evening. And if you feel like a PubQuiz, Tribaun organises one every Wednesday!
Address: Museumstraße 5
Moustache
If you’re looking for something a bit more lively, Moustache is one of those Innsbruck bars that naturally turns into a night out. Their beer selection leans towards easy, drinkable classics, with a few craft options in between.
The vibe is social and energetic, a mix of locals, students, and travellers, usually with music in the background and a crowd that’s there to have a good time. There’s also a beautiful outdoor terrace, perfect for early spring evenings. Cash only.
Address: Herzog-Friedrich-Straße 8
BierWelt
If you’re not in the mood to sit in a bar, BierWelt is the place to go. It’s a specialty beer shop with a huge selection of bottles and cans, from local Tyrolean breweries to international craft beers and harder-to-find styles.
They also occasionally host tastings and small events, which makes it more than just a shop. Perfect for grabbing a few beers and heading to the river, a park, or just back to the hostel kitchen. Especially in spring, when sitting outside starts to feel like an option again.

Before You Head Out
Innsbruck isn’t a massive city, but the bar scene here is quietly strong. You won’t find huge beer halls everywhere, but you’ll find places that care, about what they serve and how people experience it. Spring is probably the best time to explore that balance.
